Charlie Edwards

Charles Ridley Edwards, died at the age of 84 on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, caring father, and an immensely proud grandfather and great-grandfather (whom they called their Dado). Professionally, Charlie was an accomplished business owner and entrepreneur. Most importantly, his love for his family was matched for his lifelong love for racing, a pursuit that brought him excitement, camaraderie, and countless memories. Charlie lived a life defined by hard work, strength, and determination. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, steadfast spirit, and the legacy of values instilled in those around him. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Cathy; his daughters, Cyndi Payne and Kim Barrett; his son-in-law, Johnny Payne; and his brother, Chris Edwards. He will be forever cherished by his five grandchildren, Holly Aultman (husband, Jon Paul), Hope Gilman, Jacob Edwards, Joshua Edwards, and Julie Edwards; and his four great-grandchildren, Liliana Aultman, Loxley Aultman, Luella Aultman, and Asher Mullen. Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Morris Edwards; his mother, Evelyn Tibbets; his brothers, Jerry Edwards and Bobby Edwards; his sister, Cheryl Edwards; and his two sons, Mark Edwards and Steve Edwards. As we remember Charles Edwards, we honor a man who lived a purposeful life full of love, family, and unwavering dedication to his values. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and he will be missed dearly. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 5 - 7 PM at McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Jackson St., Newnan, GA 30263. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Holly Hill Memorial Park in Fairburn, GA.
