Christopher Stewart Rand

Christopher Stewart Rand, age 43, died at home on Thursday, June 28, 2007, after courageously battling cancer for several years. Chris and his family settled in Newnan in 1996 and quickly became active members of Newnan Presbyterian Church and the community. His winning smile and loving character endeared him to the youngest and oldest residents of Newnan. Chris graduated from Crestwood High School in 1982 then went on to graduate from Auburn University in 1986, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Operations Management. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, through which he met many of his lifelong friends. While at Auburn, Chris met his wife, Lissa, and they were married in December 1988. As a partner in E.W. Klein and Company of Atlanta, Chris’s business covered the southeastern United States, where he developed a loyal clientele, many of whom became close personal friends. Chris is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Lissa) Rutland Rand, his children, Elizabeth Rose Rand, MaryRutland Harris Rand and Christopher Stewart Rand, Jr., his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lewis Rand of Canton, Georgia, his brother Edward Lewis Rand, Jr. and wife, Anne, of Birmingham, Alabama, his sister Robin Rand Servine and husband, Dirk, of Atlanta, Georgia, his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Cooper Rutland of Mitchell Station, Alabama, his brother-in-law, Louis Cooper Rutland, Jr., and wife, Alison, of Mitchell Station, Alabama, five nieces, four nephews and numerous cousins.
