Dr. Robert "Bob" A. Babcock

Dr. Robert "Bob" Arnold Babcock, 73, of Newnan, GA passed away Thursday, June 19th, 2025 at Emory University Hospital Midtown. He was born April 28, 1952 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Arnold Robert Babcock Jr. and Vivian Shirley (Kline) Babcock. Bob was preceded in death by his sister Margaret "Peggy" Babcock. At Bob's request, cremation has already taken place. Bob grew up in Saginaw, Michigan and was a 1970 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. He was a proud graduate of Oakland University, class of 1975, where he completed his undergraduate in Psychology. Bob then completed both his Masters (1978) in Psychology and his Ph.D. (1989) at University of Massachusetts. Bob's areas of specialization included Applied behavior analysis, Developmental disabilities, Autism-spectrum disorders, School consultation, Behavioral coaching for adolescents and adults with Asperger's Syndrome, and Performance management in human service organizations. Bob was a Board Certified Behavior Analyst as well as a licensed Psychologist in both Alabama and Georgia. From representing intellectually vulnerable young adults in the court to advocating for quality care within Alabama and Georgia school systems for adolescents with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Bob was recognized for making a multitude of powerful strides in the autistic Spectrum community. Bob left a tremendous impact in the lives of his clients and fellow colleagues at Brightstone Transitions in Gainesville, GA, the Behavioral Science Center in Columbus, GA, and Wellspring Counseling Center in Opelika, AL. When Bob wasn't providing therapy to his clients, he enjoyed playing the guitar and fixing them too. Bob loved all forms of music, especially rock. Bob also enjoyed home improvement projects, earning the nickname "Bob the Builder" from his daughter Gabriella. Bob's celebration of life will take place Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 4:00 pm at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St Newnan, GA 30263. Condolences can be expressed online at www.McKoon.com . He also leaves behind three siblings - Mark and Becky Babcock of Saginaw, MI; Deborah and Jeffrey Tallman of Grand Rapids, MI; and Colonel (USAF-retired) Bruce D. and Amy Babcock of Alexandria, VA; a great part of our family Bob and Norma Wilder of Palmetto, FL.
