George Washington Cox, III

Mr. George "Buster" Washington Cox, III, 85 of Sharpsburg, GA entered the Kingdom on Monday January 16th, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 15, 1937 in Atlanta, GA to the late George Washington Cox, Jr and Ella Mae Marr Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Ethridge Cox and his son, George Patrick Cox. George or "Buster," as he was known by those who knew him best, grew up in Atlanta where he graduated High School in 1953. After, High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Texas and California and was a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service, he returned to Atlanta to start his career in Accounting. He became a CPA and ultimately rose to Partner with several firms. Most recently George was with Nichols Cauley, LLC. George loved fishing, taking several trips to Steinhatchee and including his family in many of these trips. Additionally, George was an avid golfer, a skill he made many efforts to pass on to the family he adored. George was a travel enthusiast, cruising the globe with cherished friends and family and most notably he was a man of God. A longtime member of First Baptist Church of Peachtree City and Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Sharpsburg, he recently began attending Crossroads Church in Sharpsburg to join his son and grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday March 11th, 2023 at 12:00 'clock at the Sharpsburg Campus of Crossroads Church, 3260 GA-16, Sharpsburg with Pastor Ken Adams officiating. Burial of his ashes will follow at Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery in Sharpsburg. The visitation is Saturday morning between 10:00 and 12:00 at Crossroads Church - Sharpsburg Campus, 3260 GA-16, Sharpsburg.
