Glenda Suzanne Boyd

Dr. Glenda Suzanne Boyd, Psy.D., 60, of Newnan, formerly of Littleton, CO, passed away Thursday, May 4. 2023 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. She was born June 20, 1962 in Rome, GA to Dr. Ronald "Jack" & Shirley Andrews Boyd, during her father's internship at Floyd County Hospital. Following a 2-year enlistment of her father in the USAF Medical Corps in Altus, Oklahoma and a brief residence in Alma, Ga the family moved to Milledgeville, GA in 1965 where she grew up on the family farm. During those early to late teen formative years she developed a great love for nature, the outdoors, and affection for animals, especially dogs and horses which carried over into her chosen professional field of psychology with the desire to utilize "Horse Therapy" for clients suffering from PTSD and related disorders. Following her graduation from GMC High School in Milledgeville, she attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA which was significant in developing several long-term friendships. She attended Georgia Baptist Nursing School and graduated from Georgia College with a BS in Psychology, received her Master's at Georgia State and Doctoral Degree from Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta. Glenda was a mental health professional with skilled and specialized training, being licensed in Colorado and Georgia. She became a follower of Christ as a teen attending Hopewell Methodist Church in Milledgeville, GA. When she attended college in Atlanta during her young adult years, she attended First Baptist Atlanta, and did her internship under Dr. Paul Walker at Mount Paran Church of God, in Atlanta. In her final years she attended GO Church in Newnan, GA. All were significant in incorporating and solidifying her Christian faith with her profession. Other significant events included volunteer and charitable work with underprivileged youth and later as volunteer counselor following the Columbine School shooting in Colorado. Her final professional career centered around evaluating Veterans for PTSD and other disability benefits. Her "Celebration of Life Event' will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 12:00 o'clock at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan with Bishop Alan Mathura officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan The visitation will be between 11:00 and 12:00 at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan.
