Isaac Godfrey

Isaac Lowell Godfrey, 47, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away August 26, 2024. He was born June 16, 1977, in Canton, Georgia. His family later moved to Peachtree City, where he graduated from McIntosh High School in 1995. Isaac's career included service in the US Army, law enforcement, and the legal profession. He honorably served at Ft. Drum, NY as a member of the 10th Mountain Division where he served in Field Artillery. He was deployed to Bosnia during his enlistment. Isaac graduated first in his class at the Clayton Regional Police Academy. He served as a Clayton County Police Officer, a Coweta County Sheriff's Deputy, and a MARTA Police Officer. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Georgia State University School of Law in 2018, he joined the Law Offices of Michel West and in 2020 established the Godfrey Law Firm in Newnan. Isaac received his bachelor's degree in journalism from Georgia College and State University. Isaac and Amy met in 1995 when they were both students at Charleston Southern University and were married in 1998. Amy and his three children, Madeliene, Isabelle, and Ian were the focus of his life. He instilled a love of the outdoors in his children with their frequent hikes at Cochran Mill, Sweetwater Creek, and State Parks throughout Georgia. Isaac was a passionate Atlanta Braves fan. His all-time favorite player was Dale Murphy. He also loved Georgia football. Isaac's deep faith in Christ was an encouragement to others, especially through his illness. He attended Southwest Christian Church. Isaac is preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Minnie Nix of East Point. He is survived by his wife, Amy; his three children, Madeliene, Isabelle, and Ian; his mother, Vicky Nix Parker (stepfather Tom); his sisters, Amanda (Jason) Edens, Abigail (Matthew) Warren, and Angela Godfrey Meehan; his in-laws, Jeff and Sue Sauricki; his sister-in-law, Marianne Savage, his uncle Bill (Karen) Nix and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Isaac's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 1, 2024 in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Craig Kingston officiating. Military funeral honors will be provided during his service. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 6 - 8 pm at McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Jackson St., Newnan. As a proud veteran of the US Army, Isaac will be buried at Georgia National Cemetery on September 4, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Isaac Godfrey may be made in support of Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University for the purpose of Patient and Family Services.
