James Andrew Peryam

James Andrew (Andy) Peryam, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Newnan, Georgia, on August 29th 2026, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born in a log cabin on the Peryam Ranch in Riverside, Wyoming, on April 20, 1944, Andy was the son of the late Robert Burnett Peryam and the late Mable Grace (Large) Peryam. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Andy's passion for learning led him to a career in education. He earned a Specialist in Education degree from Georgia State University and dedicated thirty-three years of service to the Coweta County Board of Education. For twenty-six years, he was a beloved teacher at Newnan High School. He later played an integral role in the planning and development of the Central Education Center (CEC), where he served with distinction as both Assistant Principal and Principal for seven years. A prominent educator and educational administrator, Andy was widely recognized for his long-standing leadership in several professional organizations. A man of deep faith, Andy was a lifelong member of the Encampment Presbyterian Church. He will be remembered for his dedication to his community, his students and above all, his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of forty-eight years Susan Coleen (Warhola) Peryam; his son Noah Andrew (Viki Timian) Peryam; and his grandchildren, Gabriel Kai (Victoria Stuart) Peryam, and Sadira Mai Peryam. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Anne (Peryam) Reshower, brother, John Gardiner Peryam; and his beloved extended family. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan GA 30263. A funeral service celebrating Andy's life and legacy will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 11:00 am in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home.
