Jason Shane Hambley

Jason Shane Hambley, 51, of Newnan, Georgia passed away on February 13, 2023 at Grady Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 23, 1971 in Huntsville, AL to the late Bobby Hambley and Andy Pizarro Hambley. Jason grew up in AL, TN, and GA, graduating in 1989 from Riverdale High School, where he played football for the Riverdale Raiders. He attended Georgia Tech to play a year of offensive line football. He started working for Delta Air Lines in 1991, where he met his wife Laura in 2001, married in April 2002, moved to Newnan, and had two wonderful children Rachel and Jimmy. He left Delta Air Lines in 2009 and went into a career at Publix, working in the bakery at several of our local Publix supermarkets, working in the new Senoia location since it opened. He loved making sweet treats and loaves of bread for the community and handing out cookies to the kids. Jason was also very active in his children's sports activities through the years. His daughter, Rachel played soccer, basketball, and softball locally in Newnan, then countless marching band performances during her time with East Coweta Marching Indians. He coached Sharpsburg Youth Baseball for his son, Jimmy for many years, and umpired for them as well. He loved watching his son play travel baseball and East Coweta High School Baseball. He was a beloved coach and has kept in touch with many thru the years. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 2258 in Senoia, as well as many years in Troop 897 in Newnan, and Cub Scouts NGB's. He was a loving and devoted father and leaves behind a legacy in the community for his caring nature and support to our youth. Jason loved bowling, watching Georgia Tech and Auburn football games, and of course his beloved Braves Baseball. He enjoyed spending time with our (family) whether it be in the pool, hot tub, tasting new beers and bourbon, traveling on many trips to Las Vegas, and our favorite places in Florida, Walt Disney World and Venice. Jason is survived by his wife, Laura Bowman Hambley, and children Rachel Elise and James William. Andy Hambley, mother; Marcie (Billy) Wayne, sister; Trent Wayne, nephew; Karen Bowman, mother-in-law; Kit (Larry) Dameron, aunt; Priscilla Atkins, aunt; Pam Britt, aunt; Don (Donna) Pizarro, uncle; and many cousins. Close (framily) Russell and Christy Mathis; Michael and Heather Nemeth; David and Jennifer Lambert. Along with many "nieces and nephews". The family will have a Celebration of Life in late March, and information will be released at a later date.
