Joan Catherine Breyne

Mrs. Joan Catherine (Menzl) Breyne, 92, of Newnan, GA (formally of Aurora IL), passed away peacefully Saturday, September 27, 2025 at her home. She was born on June 18, 1933 in Aurora, IL to the late Joseph Francis Menzl and the late Helen Marie (Schiltz) Menzl. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her sister, Mary Ann (Menzl) Wolf. Joan lived all but 5 years of her life on "Pigeon Hill" in Aurora, IL. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish her entire life, went to St. Joseph Elementary School, and then to Madonna Catholic High School in Aurora, IL where she graduated from in 1951. Joan and Don were married on September 5, 1953 in Aurora, IL. They had five wonderful sons and were married for 71 years! Joan and Don moved to Newnan, GA in 2020 to be closer to family. Joan had the good fortune of working for Dr. Mary Anderson, DDS for many years. Dr. Anderson loved traveling and took Joan with her on many trips. Joan caught the "travel bug" and was always up for new adventures. She passed this love of adventures on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joan was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to give hugs and kisses to all of us! She will be missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at St. Joseph Church in Aurora, IL at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jerry Leake officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery on Route 25 in Aurora. A luncheon and a sharing of her life will be held afterwards at The Phoenix Club. Buelk of North Charleston, SC, Kristie (Jake) A. Unterseher of Buxton, ND, Joseph (Rachael) R. Breyne of Grantville, GA, Matthew (Molly) R. Breyne of Peachtree City, GA, Andrea (Dustin) S. McGinnis of Brentwood, TN, Luke (Annie) R. Breyne of Charleston, SC, Nathan (Ana) R. Breyne of North Charleston, SC, Déla (Joseph) M. O'Callaghan of North Charleston, SC, Jacob R. Breyne of Lawrence, KS, Jillian P. Breyne of Maize, KS, Donald R. Breyne of Newnan, GA, and Dennis R.
