John Eric Hughes, Jr.

John Eric Hughes, Jr., age 22, perished in an automobile crash, on December 24, 2016. He was the beloved son of John Eric Hughes, Sr. and Tammy McMillan Hughes. He was born on January 21, 1994, at Tanner Medical, in Carrollton, Georgia. Currently he resided in Summer Grove, of Newnan, Ga. He studied at both the Carolyn Barron Montessori School and The Heritage School. He graduated from The Heritage School in 2012. John went on to receive his BA, in Finance, from The Terry College of Business, at the University of Georgia, in Athens, after just three and a half years of study. He was currently working, in sales, at Multec Industrial Packaging, Inc., in Newnan, Ga. He was looking forward to pursuing his MBA, next year. He was considering Georgetown University, Cornell, Duke, Emory, or the University of Chicago. Notre Dame University had just recently asked that he consider their graduate school. He was an intelligent, ambitious, and personable young man. He always set his goals high and always achieved them. Failure was never acceptable to John. In addition to his studies, he enjoyed golf, tennis, swimming, art, photography, and fine dining. He even made time for flying lessons. He loved his friends and pets. Preceding him in death, were grandparents John C. and Shirley Hughes of Newnan, Margaret Elizabeth McMillan, of Newnan, and Ted Eugene McMillan Sr.of Augusta, Ga. Survivors are parents, Tammy and John Eric Hughes, Sr.; brother, Charles Christopher Stewart and wife, Sharla Smith Stewart, nephew, Johnathan Andrew Stewart, of Smyrna, Georgia.
