June Elaine Davis Ward, 82, of Newnan, GA died December 23, 2010 while in Hospice Care of cancer. June is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald E. Ward, 3 children, Nancy Morgan of Fayetteville, GA, Ron Ward of Topeka, KS and Eric Ward of Annapolis, MD. She also survived by 10 grandchildren, Rodney and Donald Ward and Amanda Ward of Topeka, KS, Todd Morgan of Columbus, GA, Jill, Kyle and Katelynn Morgan of Fayetteville and Jim, Jason and Jaclyn Ward of Annapolis and 15 great grandchildren and surely more to come. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.mckoon.com She was born in Camden, New Jersey on May 6, 1929 to the late R. Wesley and Janet Davis. At 9 years of age, her family moved to Glendale, NJ where she graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1947. She went on to graduate from the Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in 1950 and received her “RN” in June 1951. She and Don were married in the Cadwalader Heights Methodist Church on October 7, 1950 and lived with Don’s parents for a short time after they were first married. They moved to one of the tenant homes on the family farm in Crosswicks, NJ and lived there until moving to Vineland, NJ in 1957 where they lived until 1986. June worked at Newcomb Hospital as a floor nurse, recovery and operating room and finally as disease control specialist before retiring after 22 years. They moved to Smith Mountain Lake, VA where they spent 19 years enjoying retirement to its fullest. June often remarked that her time at “the lake” were the best years of her life. Getting on in years, they choose to move closer to their daughter, Nancy. They moved to Fayetteville, GA and then to Wesley Woods of Newnan-PTC, GA, where they have lived for 3 years. With the move, they have enjoyed having family close by and spending lots of time with their daughter’s family. She and Don recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and just about the entire family were present for the occasion. To quote Andre Maurois, “a happy marriage is a long conversation, which is always too short.” June Ward, matriarch of the Ward family, in her memory leaves a loving family. Services will be held at Wesley Woods Newnan-PTC 3:30 Sunday, December 26th at Woody’s.
