Mrs. Karen Sue Herman On August 14, 2007, the world lost one of God's most beloved and humble servants. Karen Sue Herman of Sharpsburg, GA, gracefully departed from the loving arms of her family into the eternal embrace of her heavenly father after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Karen was born the loving daughter of John Christopher and Betty Ruth Ehlenfeld in Danville, IL, on August 8, 1958. She was a true companion and compassionate sister to Kris Peele and Kim Brough. On November 10, 1979, years of ongoing puppy love blossomed into an eternal bond of matrimony as Karen happily married John C. Herman of Waukesha, WI. Their unwavering love provided the bedrock for a most beautiful family. Karen's self-proclaimed greatest achievement was her three children, all of whom now carry their mother's unparalleled compassion and understanding with them in their own unique way. Her presence was one of race and humility and her aim was to serve her God and her family. She devoted many years to caring for children as a teacher's assistant at Carolyn Barron Montessori School in Newnan. She went on to join a family of invaluable friends at the Collector's Corner, where she became a beloved presence due to her warm smile and caring blue eyes. In July of 2003, Karen became the proud grandmother of Makenzie Skylar Barnett and reveled in her newly-discovered calling. A visitation will be provided at McKoon Funeral Home on Saturday between the hours of 6-8 p.m. The celebration service of Karen's life will be Sunday at the First Baptist Church in downtown Newnan in the historic sanctuary at 3 p.m. Her burial service will commence directly afterwards at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Roscoe Road. She is sorrowfully survived by her husband, John Herman; her children, Joshua, Jessica and Katelyn; her sisters, Kris Peele and Kim Brough; her mother, Betty Ehlenfeld; and her beautiful granddaughter, Makenzie. May God's everlasting love carry you even further than your love has carried and continues to carry your family. And so: as the seed that you sow will be the fruit by which you eat, for those of us who were so blessed to have experienced Karen's overwhelming love and compassion, we know she now dwells in the Kingdom of God.
