Lois Carol Morgan

Lois Carol Morgan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, was born December 9, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia. On August 16, 2025, she gained her wings at home, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was the devoted wife of Cecil Morgan, and together they built a family rooted in love and strength. She was the proud mother of Anthony Smith, Anita Morgan, Evelyn (Bet) Morgan, and Sherry Ledford. Her greatest joy came from her role as "Mama" and "Nanny," lovingly guiding her 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The daughter of Thomas Henry Dyes and Delores Evelyn Dyes, Carol grew up as one of six children-three boys and three girls. Family was always at the center of her life. Carol had a zest for life and a heart that welcomed everyone. She never met a stranger, always ready with a warm smile and kind words. She loved the thrill of NASCAR, cheering for Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, and she had a special fondness for frogs and her adopted cat, Issues. Some of her happiest moments were spent camping, enjoying picnics, attending car shows, and watching baseball-whether at professional stadiums or T-ball fields. Above all, Carol's greatest passion was her family. She was a beautiful soul, a fierce fighter for what she believed in, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a true friend. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Evelyn Dyes; her siblings, Thomas Dyes, Charles Dyes, Juanita Willis, and Leon Dyes. She is survived by her husband, Cecil Morgan; her children, Anthony Smith, Anita Morgan, Evelyn (Bet) Morgan, and Sherry Ledford; her sister, Jeanette Nalley; her grandchildren, Audrey, Dallas and Robbie Smith, Tiffany Ferenczy, Tabitha Beckom and Tori Johnson, Nikki, Erica and Christina Rice and Dylan Morgan, and Cara Bratcher; her great-grandchildren, Bernard Arnold, Marley Smith and Aaliyah Smith, Emma, Hudson and Sheppard Ferenczy, Grayson and Harper Johnson, Sawyer Bell, Waylon Huiet, Lily Baxter and Charlee Householder, Layla and Jax Bratcher, and George McKenzie; and many nieces, nephews, and countless cousins. Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Carol's life at McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Jackson St., Newnan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 5 - 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Adamson officiating. Interment will follow at Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, Georgia.
