Michael Oscar Quinn

On July 15, 2024, Mike peacefully transitioned to his final resting place in heaven. He was 74 years of age. He joined his beloved children - Christian and Brandon - and many others who preceded him in death. Mike is survived by - first and foremost - Harley; his two sons, Micah and Casey; his brother, Wayne; many grandchildren both by blood and love; and many special great-grandchildren. He was a cherished father and papa. Mike attended Hapeville High School and was aspiring to become a professional baseball player until he was drafted into the United States Army. He was deployed to Vietnam and served on the front line. Mike was attached to the 1st Aviation Brigade which were first in and last out of Vietnam. He was proud to have served his country and to be a Vietnam veteran. Mike joined the program of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1987 and proceeded to help hundreds of young men and women seeking recovery. He sponsored many and told his story at every opportunity, again helping others. He shared his journey at schools with young children to hopefully help them in their future. He was very proud of his recovery and continued to go to meetings and work with others until the very end. Mike had an obsession with Alabama - his favorite phrase was "ROLL TIDE." He loved his Harley and participated in lots of huge charity bike rides - again, helping others. Mike was larger than life and even nicknamed himself "MacDaddy." He made few, if any, enemies. He was passionate; he loved hard; and he never abandoned anyone in need. We will all miss his humor and his courage but most of all his unconditional love of us all! He taught us all faith, courage, and grace while fighting cancer the last three years of his life. He fought the good fight and ran a good race. It was time for him to be pain-free and carefree and join his loved ones. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 6 - 8 pm at McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Jackson St., Newnan. A service celebrating Mike's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024 in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory with TJ Boyd. A bike ride will join us from the service to the graveside at Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park where he will be laid to rest with his daughter and his parents.
