Pat Crook

Patricia Yarbrough Crook died peacefully June 4, 2017. She was born June 6, 1935 in Beulah, Ala. and was the daughter of Hubert Gill and Mary Williams Yarbrough. Visitation is at McKoon's Funeral Home in Newnan, Georgia from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 6. The funeral service is at Senoia United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 7 at 2 pm with Dr. Danny Barton and Rev. Erik Mays officiating. Mr.Jim Preece will be the musician for the service. She will lie in state from 1PM to 2PM at the church. Following the graveside service, all are invited to a church meal in the fellowship hall with the family. Pallbearers are Leigh Morgan, Bob Tinsley, Tray Baggarly, Jim Hutchinson, Carl McKnight and Hal Sewell. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request contributions to the Senoia UMC Capital Improvement Fund. Crook was a graduate of both Alabama Polytechnic Institute for her bachelor's degree and the newly named Auburn University for her master's degree. She moved to Newnan to teach home economics at East Coweta School in Senoia, where she met the local grocer at a school dance. He started sending her treats along with that day's groceries to the school, and they married after a four year courtship, and she settled in Senoia and joined the Senoia United Methodist church, where she served and chaired many committees and taught Sunday school and Bible school regularly for years. After her children were born, she changed her certification and taught a generation of elementary school children, who at first feared and then loved her. When she retired from teaching, she kept busy doing things she loved to do - taking trips, playing bridge, participating in the Senoia Variety Club, playing bunco, and going to the local coffee shop and Senior Center weekly for visits with friends. "Miss Pat" will be remembered as organized, a great cook, dedicated to her community, defiant when she needed to be, and someone who could manage a crisis. She was a true Southern lady.
