Stanley George Brown

Mr. Stanley George Brown, 77, of Newnan, GA, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. He was born May 29, 1949, in Newnan, GA, to the late George William Brown and Frances Sewell Brown. Stan grew up in Newnan, GA and was a 1967 graduate of Newnan High School. He was a proud graduate of the University of Georgia in 1971, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. After college, he joined the U.S. Air Force (First Lieutenant) where he served from 1971-1976. He attended Officer School and Pilot Training in Colorado and then was stationed in Florida, New York, and Korea throughout his Air Force career. Stan eventually returned home to Newnan, GA, and worked at the United States Postal Service Sprayberry Branch as a Rural Route Carrier for 24 years. After he retired, he often could be found working on many projects with his excavator or tractor around his home. Stan had a huge love for the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and wildlife conservation. He was notorious for taking leave from work to go hunting the whole month of November. Stan also never met a stranger. He was often referred to as "the Mayor" and made friends everywhere he went. He had a one-of-a-kind, warm, welcoming, and genuine personality, earning nicknames including, but not limited to: "Stan the Man" and "Mail Man Stan." Visitation will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Newnan, GA, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 1:00 o'clock, followed immediately by Service and Burial at 2:00 o'clock, with Dr. Joel Dover and Rev. Matthew Myers officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider making a donation to the Newnan High School Fishing Team in Stan's memory.
