With faith in the promise of the Resurrection and hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the entrance of Teresa de Jesús Marcote Rodriguez into eternal life on July 13, 2026, at the age of 92. Teresa was born on February 6, 1934, in Matanzas, Cuba, to Herminio Marcote Rodulfo and Adela Rodriguez Sivila. She attended Escuela Normal before beginning a life marked by resilience, quiet strength, and devotion to family. In 2005, she traveled from Cuba to the United States to visit her son, Pedro Santo Arce, and his family after they had established themselves in the United States. What began as a visit became a new chapter in her life. She settled in Miami, Florida, before moving to Newnan, Georgia, in 2007, where she remained for the rest of her years. Teresa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Jose Manuel Arce Lopez; her infant daughter, whom she lovingly carried but who passed away shortly after birth; her parents; and all her siblings: Herminio, Iraida, Minelia, Liana, and Juan Ramon. She leaves behind her beloved son, Pedro Santo Arce, and his wife, Marlene. Teresa was a proud grandmother to Howard Arce, Hardry Arce, and Darleine Arce. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Hailey Nicole and Taylor Nicole, children of Howard; and Katherine Elizabeth and Ethan Noel, children of Hardry. In the past year, the family welcomed several furry additions: great-granddogs Chico, Tiger, Osa, Willow, and Bea, along with one great-grandcat, Joseph. Although Teresa never considered herself much of a pet lover, she tolerated their growing presence in the family with humor and patience. Teresa found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed painting, embroidery, working puzzles, and listening to music. Her family also liked to joke that she had one more pastime: supervising everyone else. Those who knew her best understood it as part of who she was, a habit shaped by a lifetime of experiences and one that became an unmistakable part of her personality. While cooking and cleaning were never among her favorite pastimes, spending time with people certainly was. Teresa possessed a warm and welcoming spirit, never hesitating to strike up a conversation with someone new. Even when language stood in the way, she believed that kindness and friendship could bridge any barrier. She genuinely enjoyed meeting people and making friends wherever she went. She expressed her affection freely through smiles, warm hugs and kisses, and as a sign of her deep respect for the priesthood, would greet her pastors with a kiss on the hand, a gesture of humility and reverence that reflected her Catholic faith. Throughout her life, Teresa often reminded those around her, "Hay que tener conformidad en la vida" ("We must learn to be content with what life brings."). She lived those words with quiet strength, steadfast faith, and trust in God's providence. Though we grieve her passing, we give thanks for the gift of her life and find comfort in the hope that she now enjoys the fullness of eternal life with Christ. En el año 2005 viajó desde Cuba a los Estados Unidos para visitar a su hijo, Pedro Santo Arce, y a su familia, quienes ya se habían establecido en este país. Lo que comenzó como una visita se convirtió en una nueva etapa de su vida. Inicialmente residió en Miami, Florida, antes de trasladarse a Newnan, Georgia, en el año 2007, ciudad que fue su hogar hasta el final de sus días. Durante el último año, la familia dio la bienvenida a varios nuevos integrantes de cuatro patas: los perros Chico, Tiger, Osa, Willow y Bea, además del gato Joseph. Aunque Teresa nunca se consideró amante de las mascotas, aceptó con humor y paciencia su creciente presencia en la familia. Teresa encontraba alegría en los placeres sencillos de la vida. Aunque cocinar y limpiar nunca estuvieron entre sus actividades favoritas, compartir con las personas sí lo estaba. Teresa tenía un espíritu cálido y acogedor, y nunca dudaba en entablar conversación con alguien que acababa de conocer. Incluso cuando el idioma representaba una barrera, estaba convencida de que la amabilidad y la amistad podían superar cualquier diferencia. Disfrutaba sinceramente conocer gente y hacía amigos dondequiera que iba. Expresaba su cariño con sonrisas, abrazos y besos, y, como muestra de su profundo respeto por sus párrocos, saludaba a los sacerdotes con un beso en la mano, un gesto de humildad y reverencia que reflejaba la profundidad de su fe católica. A lo largo de su vida, Teresa solía recordar a quienes la rodeaban: "Hay que tener conformidad en la vida." Ella vivió esas palabras con fortaleza serena, una fe firme y una profunda confianza en la providencia de Dios. Aunque hoy lloramos su partida, damos gracias a Dios por el regalo de su vida y encontramos consuelo en la esperanza de que ahora goza de la plenitud de la vida eterna junto a Cristo. Familiares y amigos están cordialmente invitados a celebrar la vida de Teresa en la Iglesia Católica St. George, en Newnan, Georgia.
