Rev L.B. Leonard Rooks Jr. of Moreland Ga age 85, passed away on July 22,2022 at his home with his family at his side. L.B. Was son of the late Leonard and Thelma Rooks of Moreland. He leaves behind his loving wife Sylvia Kay Rooks of 27 years and was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Rooks of 33 years and his brother, James Rooks; stepchildren, Janice Moon and Jerry Moon and step grandchild, Kelli Vaughn. He is also survived by his sister, Patsy Moran; sister in law, Patricia Rooks; his loving nephews, Wayne Rooks-Donna , Allen Rooks - Betty Ann, Freddie Brown-Joy his nieces Michelle Tittle- Tim, Margie Shreve-Merve; step children : Kenneth Moon-Marie, Janelle Andrews-Bobby, Danny Duncan-Elaine, Randall Duncan - Kitty; step grandchildren: Dotti Young-John, Jerry Vaughn, Jennifer Keele, Denise Attaway- Eddie, Jeff Andrews-Rita, Allan Duncan-Brandy, Stephen Duncan, Kristal Richards- James , Seth Duncan-Courtney, Brandon Self- LeeAnn, Jon Moon- Daphnie, Tara Moon. He leaves many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. L.B. Rooks spent almost his entire life in Moreland and loved his hometown. He served in the US Army and worked most of his life at Rooks Garage Doors and the later years he served as Pastor at Raymond Baptist Church. He loved God, his Wife, his family, and he loved the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed Rook and spades, playing his guitar, and singing in church, cutting his grass, and Cracker Barrel. He will forever be in our hearts. Words cannot express our loss of such a loving man. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.mckoon.com Funeral services will be held Monday, July 25,2022 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home 38 Jackson Street Newnan, with Rev. Bryan Calhoun and Dr. Mike Holdredge officiating. Interment will follow at Southview Cemetery in Moreland, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at McKoon Funeral Home.
