ANN BRADY KNIGHT MORGAN Ann Brady Knight Morgan passed away in the early hours of April 1, 2016, at her home. Daughter of the late Hal Brady, Jr., and Elizabeth Lasseter Brady of LaGrange, Georgia, she lost her mother at a young age and was blessed to have Mrs. Charlie Jo Brady as her step-mother. Ann was a Southern lady, born of the traditions of West Georgia, and engaged in the social and political life of her community and state. A long-time resident of Newnan, Ann will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Ann was an Educator – in the home, in the school, and in her church. She was born and raised in LaGrange where she attended the LaGrange public schools. Her mom taught her to read at the age of four, and this started a life-long love of education that Ann transmitted to all who came into contact with her. She attended St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in business education. Ann was a member of the Chi Omega sorority where she was elected Vice-President, served as President of the University of Georgia Panhellenic Council and was selected to the Mortar Board National Honor Society. At various times during her professional life she taught school in the Oconee and Coweta County School Systems. Her life was all about family. She met her husband-to-be, Nathan Knight, in grade school in LaGrange and they married in 1959 while Nathan was in law school. Following a stint for the US Army in Columbia, South Carolina, they settled in Newnan in 1960, where Nathan set out to practice law. Ann was Nathan’s partner in life and business and supported him throughout his professional and political career. She and Nathan raised three children and saw them all graduate from University, marry, and start their own families. With her children, there was hardly a tennis court or ball field in Georgia that Ann did not visit as an avid cheerleader. More recently, she was a doting grandmother taking great pride in her grandchildren’s growth and achievements. She had many interests in her life which were shared with a large network of friends. For 40 years, she enjoyed her bridge club and played duplicate and tournament bridge. Ann loved antiques and co-founded the Jefferson House Antique shop in Newnan, which she operated with friends for many years. She was a sustaining member of the Newnan Junior Service League and served the community as local Executive Director of the United Way. A voracious reader, Ann could always be found in her living room late into the evening reading business and health journals. She also loved to travel and made many visits to Europe with friends and trips to see her grandchildren in Belgium and France. Ann was an active member of Newnan's First United Methodist Church her whole adult life and served in many capacities. For over 20 years, she was the Church’s wedding coordinator; she loved to comment about how many church members she "married", and she never forgot a wedding. She shared her faith teaching adult Sunday School classes and in later years taught bible study for seniors at Wesley Woods retirement home. When Nathan’s health failed Ann learned to become a great care-giver. Not one to complain or question life’s challenges, she leaned on her faith and studied all she could about Alzheimer’s disease. For 11 years prior to Nathan’s passing, Ann took full responsibility for his care, for many years at home and afterwards at Heritage Hills in Columbus, Georgia. Ann is survived by her three children and their spouses and six grandchildren: Nathan and Marie-Adine Knight and their children, Coralie, John Henry, and Colin of Brussels, Belgium; Bill and Amy Knight of Great Falls, Virginia, and their children, Allison and Cami; and Ansley and Brad Campbell and their son, Brodie, of Newnan. Ann is also survived by her brother, Dr. Hal Brady, III, and his wife, Myron, of Atlanta; a sister, Gail, and her husband Dr. Pat Hunnicutt of LaGrange; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Knight of Newnan. Ann also leaves Will Morgan of Birmingham, Alabama, a life-long friend whom she married in 2011 and gave her great happiness in her final years. The family would like to acknowledge and especially thank Mrs. Ann’s wonderful care-givers that read to her, sang to her, and laughed with her: Marcie Owens, Judy Norton, Melody Helfin, Natalie Keller, Janet Potts, and the late Carolyn Wright.
