Catherine Marie Donnan

Catherine Marie Donnan, 80, of Newnan, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, May 3, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Cathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sibling whose love and devotion shone upon those around her. She was born June 3, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., as the eldest of four children to Raymond J. and Catherine Marie Curley. Cathy raised a family of four with husband George in Levittown, N.Y., before arriving in Newnan 32 years ago. Creativity was among Cathy's callings, and she was an active crafter. Equally born with a green thumb, she cared for and tended to a bountiful garden that flourished yearly. Cathy, a woman of many talents and interests dedicated her time to caring for two of her grandchildren, a role she cherished. Cathy equally enjoyed traveling, often visiting family and friends in New York. Cathy had been a member of St. George Catholic Church since her arrival in Newnan in 1992, attending weekly mass until her health declined in recent years. While preceded in death by her mother, Catherine, Father, Raymond and goddauughter, Deborah. Survivors include her husband George of 55 years. She is also survived by daughters Doreen Peters (Mike) of Hicksville, N.Y.; Tracy Walker of Newnan; Kimberly (Chris) Goltermann of Newnan; and son Thomas Donnan of Newnan; as well as five grandchildren: Michael, Jessica and Rebecca Peters of Hicksville, N.Y.; and Mary Ellen and Conor Goltermann of Newnan. Cathy is also survived by three younger siblings: Patricia (Peter) Struzzieri of Ocala, Fla.; Raymond Curley of Largo, Fla., and Mary Beth (Pete) McLaughlin of Fallbrook, California. Cathy also cherished her extended family as a loving aunt and was a devoted friend and co-worker. A service in her memory will be held at St. George Catholic Church on Thursday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends starting at 9:30 a.m. until the service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In leau of flowers, send a potted plant to 40 Northfield Drive, Newnan, GA 30265 They will be planted on her family property.
