Clyde Gordon Bush

Clyde Gordon Bush, age 91, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. He was born on June 17, 1935, in Analomink, Pennsylvania, to the late George Wilson Bush and Mary Hofner Bush. Clyde married the love of his life, Shirley May Williams, on October 30, 1953, in Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania. They shared 72 wonderful years together and raised three children. Clyde served a 28-year military career that included overseas assignments and duty stations around the world with his family. During his military service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; AF Longevity Service Ribbon with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters; Good Conduct Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; AF Outstanding Unit Award with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; AF Good Conduct Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters; and AF Commendation Medal. Following his military retirement, Clyde served for 10 years in civil service at Charleston Air Force Base (now Joint Base Charleston) in North Charleston, South Carolina. He also attended Trident Technical College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology. Clyde enjoyed bowling, handball, racquetball, golf and horseshoes, as well as playing board games and cards. He especially enjoyed the challenges of chess, puzzles and sudoku. However, his greatest joy was hitting the open road with Shirley to visit family and friends and explore the country together. Clyde is survived by his beloved wife Shirley; his daughters Jill Denise McHaney and Janice Lynne Duncan; his grandchildren Michelle (David) Blake, Jessica (Shawn) Williams, Jonathan (Traci) Duncan, and Thor McHaney; his great grandchildren Kayla Soto, Taylor Constable, Avery Williams, Mason Duncan, Max Williams and Maya Duncan; and his sister Carolyn L. Possinger. He was preceded in death by his son, James Bradley Bush; his son-in-law, Roy Kirby Duncan; his siblings, Fayetta Bush, Irene DeChaira, Doris Keller, George Bush, Ila Miller, Arthur C. Bush, and Elwood H. Bush; and his parents. Services with military honors will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery - Canton GA, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA 30114 on July 30, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a veteran's support organization of your choice.
