ED BLEDSOE Edward Leon “Ed” Bledsoe, 84, of Moreland, husband of Runette Griffin Bledsoe died Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Hope Center in Fayetteville. Born in LaGrange, June 6, 1933, he was a son of the late Gordon Leon and Edna Levens Bledsoe. Mr. Bledsoe and his wife married June 6, 1951, and moved to Atlanta. He went to work with Motor Convoy as a driver and retired after twenty-eight years of service. The family moved to Moreland in 1971, where Ed took on a second career as a real estate agent. He served the Moreland Town Council as Alderman and Mayor. For seventeen years. He also served for eight years on the Three Rivers Regional Commission, where he was appointed by Governor’s Perdue and Deal. He was active in many civic organizations including the Chamber of Commerce and Newnan Kiwanis Club. Ed was an organizing member of the Coweta County Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Bledsoe enjoyed fishing and trips to the Apalachicola with his fishing buddies. He and Runette loved traveling in their motor home and were able to see most every state and also enjoyed traveling to other countries. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan where he had been very active until his health declined. Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-six years are three children, Teresa Bledsoe Sanford and husband Ron of Acworth, Steve Bledsoe and wife Wanda and Pam Bledsoe Ford and husband Dick, all of Moreland; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, W.C. Bledsoe and wife Elvie of Columbus, Larry S. Bledsoe and wife Connie of Dalton; and a sister, Barbara Ann Gray and husband Al of LaGrange. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, with Dr. Jimmy Patterson and Rev. Mark Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in Moreland. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 Noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
