Emmett James Stallings

Emmett James Stallings Jr. 1928-2009 Emmett James Stallings Jr., age 81 of Newnan passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Southwest Christian Hospice. He was born June 21, 1928 in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Emmett James Stallings, Sr. and Addie Mary Curran Stallings. In addition to his parents he, is preceded in death by his brother Alton Curran Stallings who passed away in 1989. Mr. Stallings married his wife, Jackie, on October 5, 1952. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1949-1954. He worked for AT&T fromm 1955 to 1985 when he retired to manage his catfish lake & fruit orchards at “Welcome Farms”, his hometown farm in Newnan. He was the host for the Coweta Youth Fishing Rodeo for 20 years. He was a member of Newnan First United Methodist Church and a member of The Kiwanis Club. He supported the Boy Scouts of America. His three sons and six of his grandsons are Eagle Scouts, and one grandson is a Life Scout. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jacqueline Spradlin Stallings of Newnan; sons, Emmett James Stallings III (Deborah Ward Stallings), Gary Martin Stallings (Elizabeth Ann Stallings), Russell Scott Stallings. Grandsons, Emmett James Stallings IV (Wendy), Mark Timothy Stallings (Melissa), Daniel Zachary Stallings; granddaughter, Carrie Ann Stallings Watson (Jon Paul); grandson, Jacob Martin Stallings; granddaughter, Jacqueline Marie Stallings; grandsons, Peter Curran Stallings, Samuel Forrest Stallings, Mason Louis Stallings; great granddaughter, Kenslee Olivia Stallings; great grandson, Julian Reese Shoemaker; great grandson, Emmett James Stallings V (Quinn); and great granddaughter, Lucy Ann Watson. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Newnan, 33 Greenville, St., Newnan, GA 30263 or the Boy Scouts of America, Flint River Council, 1361 Zebulon Road, Griffin, GA 30224.
