Maxine Sandy Seidel

Maxine Sandy Seidel, 70, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, after a brief illness at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. She was born on September 18, 1955, in New York, NY, to the late Gabriel Seidel and Rita Waldman Seidel. Maxine grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where her talents emerged early. She played violin throughout her childhood and graduated at just 16 from Seward Park High School. She began working young-first at a local law firm, then on Wall Street in commodities trading. In her early twenties, she embraced adventure and drove cross‑country to California with her cat, Precious, the first of many beloved pets. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from California State University, Northridge, and went on to build a successful career as Vice President of Sales at West Coast Wholesale. She raised two girls, was an incredible cook, and absolutely loved bringing people together. Maxine loved to dance-especially to disco-and enjoyed antiquing as well as working on board puzzles. Her deep love for animals and her lifelong enjoyment of bowling were constants throughout her life. After retiring, Maxine moved with her husband, Tom, to Newnan, Georgia, where she quickly formed lasting friendships. She became an active member of her community-joining the bunco group, book club, and garden club-and even served as Lady Liberty in the annual Fourth of July parade. Her Jewish faith remained central throughout her life, and she continued her involvement with Congregation B'nai Emet in Simi Valley, CA, where she had served on the board, participated in the Sisterhood, and was remembered as a generous and dedicated volunteer. Services to honor Maxine will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA. Maxine is survived by her husband, Thomas (Tom) Sumner of Newnan; daughters Randi Seidel of Washington, DC, and Robyn Clark and her husband, Collin, of San Diego, CA; and granddaughters Mia and Abby Clark of San Diego, CA.
