Bill Davis

Rev. Roy "Bill" William Davis, 76, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away Friday night, August 22, 2026, at his home. He was born March 30, 1950, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Roy Beasley Davis & Elizabeth "Betty" Margaret Marquart Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Margaret Davis. Bill spent his early years in Canton, Ohio before moving to Pensacola, Florida at the age of 12. He loved football and watched every game of the Ohio State University team. He was a graduate of Woodham High School in Pensacola, where he enjoyed playing and marching in the band. After high school, he attended Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida. Following his graduation, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Huggins, and together they moved to New Orleans, LA, where he attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Upon receiving his Masters Degree, he moved to Knoxville, TN, to serve as a Minister of Education and Youth. Over the next 18 years, he served in churches in North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia. He moved to Georgia in 1990 and began teaching in high and middle schools in Clayton County. He attended Mercer University in 2000 to obtain an additional Masters in early childhood education. In 2002, he moved his family to Newnan, where he lived for 24 years until his death. His family and friends will remember him for his laughter and crazy sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling and being with his family. In Canton he was a member of the Salvation Army and attended with family members. When his father was laid off, his family moved to Pensacola, FL. Due to the kindness of a local church he along with his family became members. He was very active at East Brent Baptist and was a member of the choir, a specialized vocal group, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and directed a children choir. In Newnan, he and his family are members of the Crossroads Church. Until his health prevented him from attending, he was a member of the church choir. A celebration and memorial service will be held at 2:00 o'clock on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA 30265 The Visitation with the family will be the hour before at 1:00 pm followed by the service.
