Ruby J. Dye

Mrs. Ruby J. Dye, 92, of Grantville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Ruby was a woman whose life was beautifully simple in the things that mattered most—she loved Jesus, she loved her family, she loved her church family, and she loved people. Above all, Ruby was the purest example of LOVE. She had a heart that welcomed others, a spirit that brought comfort, and a way of making those around her feel loved and cared for. Ruby loved her Lord and cherished her church family at East Newman Baptist Church. Her faith was not simply something she talked about; it was woven into the very fabric of her life. She trusted Jesus, loved her church family, and leaves behind a legacy of faith that will continue through those who knew and loved her. Ruby enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved to read, watch television, and, most of all, spend time with her family. She treasured the moments spent together, whether they were big family gatherings or just ordinary days made special by being together. For Ruby, those were the moments that mattered—the laughter, the conversations, the hugs, and the memories that will now be held close forever. And then there were the flamingos. Ruby became fascinated with flamingos after taking an adventure of a lifetime to Hawaii. Something about those pink, long-legged birds captured her heart, and from that trip began what would become a never-ending flamingo collection. Before long, flamingos were everywhere! They became a part of Ruby, bringing a little color, a little fun, and a whole lot of personality into her home. Her family will always remember those flamingos and smile, knowing just how much joy they brought her. They became more than a collection—they became reminders of a wonderful adventure, happy memories, and the beautiful ability Ruby had to find delight in the little things. And somehow, it seems only fitting that a woman who brought so much love and joy into the lives of others would leave behind a flock of flamingos to keep everyone smiling. Mrs. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Hassie Hutchins; her loving husband, Alvis A. Dye; and her son, Robert Dye, Sr. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memory her daughters, Emma Freeman, Daphene (Richard) Roberts, Nancy (Johnny) High, and Alicia Ann Dye; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and her beloved church family. Ruby's family will miss her dearly—the sound of her voice, her gentle spirit, her loving heart, and all the little things that made her uniquely Ruby. But they can find comfort knowing that she is now home with the Jesus she loved so dearly. She has exchanged this earthly home for Heaven, where there is no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more goodbyes. Perhaps there is a little flock of flamingos waiting for her there, too—standing tall and pink, reminding her family that even in the midst of their tears, there is always room for a smile. Ruby loved well, lived faithfully, and left this world better simply because she was in it. Her greatest collection was never her flamingos—it was the people she loved and the memories she made with them. And that is a collection that will never be lost. Graveside services will be held privately at Mill Creek Cemetery, 6252 Mill Creek Church Road, Gibson, Georgia 30810. A Celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at East Newnan Baptist Church, 14 Pearl Springs Trail, Newnan, Georgia 30263. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
