Sonia S. Lopez Carvajal, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. Born in Nicaragua on December 8, 1935, to her parents, Virgilio Molina Rio and Soledad Lopez Pavon, Sonia carried the warmth, strength, and rich traditions of her homeland throughout her life. In later years, she made her home in Carrollton and Newnan, Georgia, where she was surrounded by family and community. Sonia was a devoted mother and a woman of quiet resilience. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alejandro Carvajal, and her two sons, Arturo J. Gonzalez and Roger A. Carvajal. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters and their spouses, Maria Elena Carvajal, Margarita A. Miranda (Manuel), and Valentina C. Alfaro, who carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and family devotion. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Argelia L. Contreras (Pavel), Gabriela M. Rubio (Marlo), Vanessa L. Alfaro, Giovanni A. Alfaro (Hilda), Jonathan Alfaro, Juan Jose Gonzalez (Amanda), Clara Isabel Gonzalez-Beatty (Robert), Luisalberto Gonzalez, Maria Esther Rivera Carvajal, Brenda Lucia Carvajal, Jessika Carvajal, and Roger Carvajal, and great-grandchildren, Josias Rubio, Elisa L. Rubio, Gabriel Rubio, Jayden Contreras, Abby Contreras, Gianni Alfaro, Melaney Alfaro, Giovanni Alfaro, Julianna Alfaro, Ximena Alfaro, Teddy Beatty, Maria Fernanda Rivera, Kristofer L. Ramirez Carvajal and Alyson Medrano Carvajal, all of whom brought her great joy. Sonia's life was a testament to perseverance, care for others, and deep familial bonds. She will be remembered for her enduring spirit and the love she shared with those closest to her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. The funeral service celebrating Sonia's life is on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
