Uple Louise Carter

Uple Louise Carter, nee: Chandler, died on November 06, 2023, at the Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia. She was 92 years old at the time of her passing. She died of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband George Fred Carter, son Michael Eugene Carter, Daughter-in-law Emi Takenouchi Carter and two sisters Guynn Chandler and Eulema Shipley. She is survived by one son Barry Robert Carter, brother, Carvel Chandler, four grandchildren, David Carter, Andrew Chester Carter, Patricia Emi Carroll and Shawn Jeffrey Carter. She had two great grandchildren, Thomas Michael Carroll and Emi June Carter. Uple was born to Chester Lavern Chandler and Corene Belle Chandler, born Eubanks, on June 25, 1931, in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, near McAlester. She grew up and attended school in McAlester. After graduating high school, she attended a seminary and learned to be a church secretary. Her first assignment was to Southern Avenue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. While there she met, wooed and married the tallest man in the church choir, George Fred Carter. While in Memphis both of her sons were born. Uple was a wonderful mother. She always worried about and supported her children. Her last words were to her son. She said, "I want you to go home." Uple was blessed with a perfect amount of love. George Fred joined the United States Border Patrol around 1958 and they started traveling. They lived in Tennessee, California, Florida, New Jersey, Hawaii, Mexico City and Guam. They traveled to numerous other countries during their 65-year marriage. Uple and George Fred moved to the Newnan area around 2000. Uple had always been active in church functions and was loved by all. Uple was living in Palmetto, GA at the time of her death. The funeral service is Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan, with Rev. Mike Emeott officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
